Preparation
- Gather all necessary tools: a large pot, a wooden spoon, sterilized jars with lids, and a canning funnel (optional).
Cooking
- In your large pot, combine the strawberries, minced jalapenos, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
- Once boiling, add the pectin according to the package instructions and stir vigorously for about a minute.
- To test if your jam is set, place a spoonful on a cold plate. If it holds its shape, proceed.
- Pour the jam into the sterilized jars, leaving a little space at the top for expansion. Secure the lids tightly.
- Process in a hot water bath if preserving long-term. Allow the jars to cool completely.
Notes
Choose ripe strawberries for the best flavor. Adjust the spice level by varying the amount of jalapenos used. Feel free to experiment with other flavors by adding herbs like mint or basil.
