Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, grated cheddar cheese, softened butter, and salt. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough forms. You want it to be moist but not sticky.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Use a fish-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your crackers, or create different shapes if desired.
- Place the cutouts onto a baking sheet and consider sprinkling extra cheese or seasonings on top for added flavor.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the crackers for about 10-15 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
Cooling
- Let the crackers cool on a wire rack before serving to achieve the perfect crunch.
Notes
To store, keep the crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze the unbaked dough.
