  • 2 pounds Chicken Breasts or Thighs Breasts for leaner option, thighs for richer flavor.
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce Choose your favorite brand or make your own.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential for enhancing flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Essential for enhancing flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Enhances overall taste.
Optional Add-Ins
  • 1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke For extra smoky flavor.
  • 1 Chopped Onions or Peppers Adds freshness.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or Brown Sugar For a sweeter glaze.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Trim any excess fat from the chicken.
  2. Lightly sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides of the chicken.
Cooking
  1. Place the seasoned chicken into the bottom of your crockpot.
  2. Generously cover the chicken with your favorite BBQ sauce.
  3. If using, add in liquid smoke, onions, or peppers for added flavor.
  4. Set your crockpot on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours until the chicken is tender.
  5. Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred it with two forks.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir it in the sauce.
  7. Serve the BBQ chicken on buns, over rice, or in tacos as desired.

Notes

Don’t overcook the chicken. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165°F. Customize flavors with preferred spices.
